Really, I would like to thank you for all the time and research that you have put into your writings — they are both informative and inspirational. As someone who is starting out on their watercolour journey, I especially appreciate your frank views about materials and prices! (Although a “Baby Boomer”, I was raised by a mother who was careful with the pennies, and that seems to have rubbed off on me.) Incidentally, I recently tried some Van Gogh tube colours and found them to be generally good. Other bloggers have been more critical about them. Stay safe. IF they were more reasonable or comparable in price I'd buy them or at least some of them. I don't need 200plus! Our prices for all watercolours have risen and I fear it may well get worse with Brexit.Peter Wardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07451951778074071828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891643331061427318.post-31148640366529306922020-07-27T07:08:22.873-07:002020-07-27T07:08:22.873-07:00Hi Janine and thanks for your comments. There are so many wonderful watercolour artists throughout the World and I discover new ones every month.Peter Wardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07451951778074071828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891643331061427318.post-80188370702086498152020-07-27T06:52:31.958-07:002020-07-27T06:52:31.958-07:00Wonderful as always to read your blog Peter! Living near the main Daniel Smith store, and being a patron that is known by my first name by 90% of the workers there. For me, the DS paints are very well priced, even more so when I look for them on sale or when they are sold in small triad sets of three tubes. I have not been in the store since the beginning of the current situation, and I already have most of the pigments they offer and multiple tubes of the ones I use regularly. While I am always interested in other brands, they'd have to be (a) better than DS, and (b) better priced as well. So far, (at least in the Daniel Smith main store) I have not found anything that meets both of those requirements. I understand that DS is much more expensive in the UK than it is here so that may not be the case for you locally. I look forward to reading any comparisons you may make, and if there is a DS pigment you can't get let me know *nudge nudge wink wink*<br />haphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09616728116181059642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891643331061427318.post-91541705126686271932020-07-27T05:57:23.380-07:002020-07-27T05:57:23.380-07:00Thank you for the update, Peter. In that way the pandemic has been kind of a blessing in disguise, suddenly we all have a lot more time to paint! I love your blog and have been reading it for years, though not sure if I've commented in the past. You have created such a wonderful resource here. It always amazes me how you find so many beautiful paintings to post by international watercolorists I've never even heard of! Keep painting and posting your artwork; I love your natural and spontaneous style. Charles Reid's influence is very noticeable in your work. Best wishes from across the pond! Janine K.
